Nankai Plywood acquires French Plywood Manufacturer Joubert Plywood

Nankai Plywood is pleased to announce the 100% share acquisition of Etablissements Guy Joubert, a leading French manufacturer and distributor of plywood and wood products, effective October 1, 2025. Following this transaction, the holding company and its subsidiaries, Joubert Les Eliots, Joubert St Jean D'Angely, Compagnie des Placages en Bois du Gabon, and Joubert Valter Peupliers, have officially become consolidated subsidiaries.

Historically, Nankai Plywood has grown alongside Japan’s new housing sector. However, anticipating a long-term domestic decline driven by demographic shifts and fewer households, our group has prioritized building a resilient business structure capable of securing stable revenue independent of domestic housing starts. To achieve this, we have pursued growth in the residential renovation sector and international markets.

As a cornerstone of our global strategy, we have focused heavily on expanding building material and plywood sales across Europe. This journey began in 2014 with our acquisition of NP Rolpin SAS, a French maritime pine plywood manufacturer.

The Joubert Group is a premier player in the French timber industry, spanning afforestation, veneer production, and plywood manufacturing and sales under its holding company, Etablissements Guy Joubert. Specializing in high-quality Okoume and Poplar plywood, the group serves a diverse clientele across 31 countries, primarily in Europe, supplying materials for public and private infrastructure, as well as vehicle and marine interiors.
